Michael Levine Named to Oscar “Shortlist” for Best Original Score

Michael Levine’s score for ‘Served Like a Girl’ has been named to the Oscar shortlist for best Original Score.

On Monday, December 18th, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their list of feature-length motion pictures in contention for nominations in the Original Score category for the 90th Academy Awards®. Included in the Academy’s shortlist was Michael Levine’s score from the SXSW-hit documentary ‘Served Like a Girl’.

Directed by Lisa Heslov, the documentary follows the lives of female veterans involved in the Ms. Veteran America beauty pageant, shedding light on the difficult transition women veterans face on their return to civilian life.

Powerful and moving, Michael Levine’s score can be described as “Americana with little touches of the exotic.” He is best known for ‘Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’ and the television series ‘Cold Case’.
