Michael Picton<\/strong> is an award-winning composer writing for film, television, theatre, concert, branding, advertising, and circus. His network themes for PBS, CNN, Amazon and others are broadcast continuously around the world; his circus and theater music can be heard in concert halls, arenas and theaters across North America; his media work includes TV series, feature films, documentaries, promos and ads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael earned degrees in composition and piano at McGill University, Montreal. While still a student, he was awarded the SOCAN Hugh Le Caine award for electronic music. After graduation, he worked for several years as a composer and orchestrator in Montreal before running away with the circus as keyboardist for Cirque du Soleil\u2019s Quidam<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Prize winner of the 2004 Turner Classic Movies Young Film Composers Competition, Michael was chosen by a jury headed by the legendary Elmer Bernstein from a field of over 600 aspiring composers to score the epic 1926 Greta Garbo silent film, The Temptress <\/em>for TCM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael recently composed songs and score for the relaunch of The Greatest Show on Earth<\/strong>, the 147th edition of the legendary American circus, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey<\/strong>. Michael\u2019s association with The Greatest Show on Earth dates back to his first circus,\u00a0Bellobration<\/strong><\/em>, in 2006, and he has gone on to create music for nine Ringling Brothers shows with Feld Entertainment as well as music for\u00a0Disney Live<\/em>\u00a0and the arena superhero spectacles\u00a0Marvel<\/strong> Universe Live<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Marvel Universe Live \u2013 Age of Heroes<\/strong><\/em>. He has also composed five shows in an ongoing collaboration with the company\u00a0Cirque Mechanics:\u00a0Boom Town, Cirque Mechanics with Orchestra,<\/em>\u00a0Pedal<\/em>\u00a0Punk<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a042ft<\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Zephyr<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael has composed television scores to one of Netflix’s most popular animated series CoComelon<\/strong>\u00a0Lane<\/strong>, Nickelodeon hit\u00a0Mutt & Stuff<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0from Sid and Marty Krofft and the\u00a0SyFy prime time network series\u00a0Flash Gordon<\/em>.<\/strong> His theme to the VH1 reality show\u00a0I Want to Work for Diddy\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>received a BMI Film & TV award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating a unique fusion of sound, style and emotion for every new project, Michael works from his Los Angeles studio for clients around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
