Steven Argila scored the documentary ‘Alive and Kicking’ that spotlights several professional Lindy Hop dancers and their flair for cutting loose on the dance floor. Occasionally, the camera breaks away from their high kicks and death-defying lifts to explain the dance’s history, regional influences, and global appeal. ‘Alive and Kicking’ is surprisingly thorough in that respect — almost overwhelming at times — but it never drops the rhythm. You’ll most likely finish the film having learned something new, with a familiar tune stuck in your head.
