Tim Phillips is a Canadian/British composer living in Los Angeles and London.  His distinctive music has powered many high-profile screen productions including 9 series of Channel 4′s hit show ShamelessHBO’s Entourage, and the 2015 film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot, starring Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench.

In 2014 Tim composed the live orchestral score to Dragon, for The National Theatre of Scotland/Vox Motus and Tianjin People’s Art Theatre of China, which is on world tour throughout 2017.

In his role as Co-Artistic Director, Tim writes music for Filter Theatre, one of Britain’s most innovative and critically acclaimed theatre companies, of which he is also co-founder.  Filter shows have toured all over the world.  They are currently developing Guns & Gold with writer David Greig (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and director Sir Michael Boyd (former Artistic Director of the RSC) and touring three shows internationally throughout 2015, including a new production of MacBeth for The Tobacco Factory in Bristol.  Tim’s non-Filter work in theatre includes composing the music for A Doll’s House starring Gillian Anderson and Christopher Eccleston (Donmar Warehouse), Juliet And Her Romeo (Bristol Old Vic), David Hare’s The Secret Rapture, and Playing the Victim (Royal Court).

Tim has an ongoing musical theatre partnership with Marc Teitler.    Their first musical The Grinning Man (directed by Tom Morris, director of War Horse) opens Spring 2016.  Along with director Sir Michael Boyd, they have secured the rights to produce a stage musical of Dave Eggers’ bestselling novel The Circle at the National Theatre in London.  They are also developing a musical television series House of Imbeciles with the writer Sergio G. Sanchez (The Orphanage, The Impossible) and Headstrong Pictures/Warner UK.

In August 2014 he completed work on his new studio Electric Teepee in Los Angeles.  Tim is currently scoring Partners in Crime, a major new Agatha Christie series for BBC1.
